Nidderdale Basketball so close to first win at Menwith

20140211-092018.jpg
On Monday Nidderdale’s basketball first team went away to the American base at Menwith Hill. It was only the second time that the boys have played at this impressive ‘high school’ venue and produced one of the best performances of the season. The team made up of Liam Mellor, James Shuffley, Tom Mann, Eddie Corps, Bobby Connor, Louis Foxton, Harry Dunn, Ali Rogers and Joe Wilson.
The game was played as 2 halves of 15 minutes with 2 specialist referees and at one point a quite sizeable crowd I’m the stands. Nidderdale were down 21-8 at half time but then produced a magnificent second half to close the gap to just 11 points with the final score ending 32-21. Points were scored by Shuffley (2), Dunn (6), Mellor (4), Connor (3), Mann (2) and Rogers (4). After the game a number of boys held there hands up and said they missed opportunities which could have seen Nidderdale take the game which just shows how close it was. Nevertheless it was a fantastic effort and achievement from all who never stopped running. Man of the match was shared between Tom Mann and Harry Dunn. Well done boys!!!

The Sports Ambassadors did a fantastic job of leading the Harrogate SSP Primary Athletics Festival on Monday this week. 3 primary schools attended the event who during the final races managed to raise the roof in terms of noise they made for their team. Well done to the young leaders brilliant event!!
