We took a team to the Harrogate area swimming gala today following the success of the House swimming gala at Nidderdale High School. We came 3rd against all other schools in the Harrogate area. Fantastic effort from all involved especially Megan (freestyle) and Joe (freestyle & fly) who won their race. We were competing against club swimmers from Leeds but managed to to gain points from some fantastic swimming. Joe was able to use his experience from squad swimming to give tips and help coach the team. Another superb effort. Miss Pugh

House Swimming Gala

House Swimming Gala

Yesterday Nidderdale High School ran their first House Swimming Gala. This saw all of year 7 & 8 being involved in the competitions, if students were not swimming in an event then they had another role as either a Manager, Coach, Official, Reporter or Photographer for their House team and even had an announcer on the microphone. This meant that students took over and lead the event themselves which went swimmingly! Well done to all those that helped run a fantastic event.
The winning lanes were dominated by Whernside who took 9 wins over the freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, putting them in overall 1st place. Pen-y-Ghent followed in 2nd place with 4 wins and closely followed by Ingleborough. We had some star performers of the gala including Megan and Jo in year 8 and Connie and Reuben in year 7. We also had students that stepped up for their House, a special mention goes to Ellie and Jack in Year 7 for their commitment and effort.
The gala finished in style with some fun relays and lots of celebrating. This was another fantastic event that has made us all proud of the students at the school who are hardworking and determined individuals.
