Monday saw a thrilling match at Boroughbridge where the year 10’s were so close to winning. Man of the match Niall Greenwood scored for Nidderdale after a superb through ball from Alex Vlahovic. Unfortunately B’bridge equalised from the penalty spot with only 2 minutes remaining. Good solid performance!

13 girls from year 7 represented the school today in a fixture against Ripon outwood. They came away a well deserved with an 8-3 win. Well done girls. Great way to end the season!
The year 7 boys had their first experience of a full contact rugby match away at Outwood Ripon and did themselves and the school proud.
Both teachers and the referee commented on the effort, committment, and ability to get stuck into a tackle as real positives from the game which saw Nidderdale lose to a very narrow margin. Although 19-0 down at half time, Nidderdale started the second half brilliantly scoring 2 fantastic tries from Tom Glover and Malachi Headington. Kareem Daoud was voted man of the match for some superb tackling and rucking throughout.
Brilliant game and the team fully enjoyed the experience. Great foundation to build on in the future!

On Monday, the year 9 football team played in a brilliant match with Boroughbridge High School at Nidderdale. The pitch was wet in places but both teams managed well in tough conditions.
The first half was very tight and although going into the break 1-0 down, Nidderdale had more than matched their opponents. This only went on to improve in the second half. Leon Gale had a fantastic chance to level the scores but just hit wide, Ben Johnson was a constant threat down the right, and Joe Stobbs making his first appearance had a superb game in the middle of the field. Boroughbridge extended their lead well against the run of play but Toby Blunstone scored to make the final 10 minutes a real battle.
Although Nidderdale couldn’t quite get the equaliser, I was very impressed with the boys efforts and just shows the potential the year 9 team has when they really apply themselves. Really pleased with the performance.
Team: Oliver Fryer, Oliver Drewery, Joe Fearnley, Joe Stobbs, Jack Kirk, Jacob Wass, Ben Johnson, Zia Chaudhry, Henry Vlahovic, Connor Duffus, Leon Gale, Toby Blunstone
On the first week back after half term the year 11 basketball team were straight into action in the Harrogate and District area championships held at St Aidan’s. There were 6 schools competing with the competition split into 2 pools with the winners from each eventually playing off in a final. Nidderdale got a very tough draw being out in a pool with Harrogate Grammar and St Aidan’s.
The first game was against Harrogate Grammar and the boys will say too, it wasn’t the best performance and Nidd went down by 10 points. However what was mighty impressive was the way in which the team analysed their last performance and sought ways to put it right. And it certainly worked against St Aidan’s. The game ebbed and flowed back and forwards highlight being a Harry Dunn shot which was judged to just be inside the 3 point line! Although St Aidan’s won the game by 2 it was a fantastic match and one in which the lads all came out positive with. Basketball continues on Monday nights after school!
