The year 9 cricket team took on Ripon Grammar School this week in the first round of the under 14s county cup. It was a tough first round draw to go away to a school like RGS, but the Nidderdale boys did really well!
Batting first Nidderdale didn’t post a great score of 30 all out however a lot of the bad luck went down to a pitch with very little bounce!!
It looked as though at the half way point Nidderdale were well beaten but the boys put on a great display in the field (albeit with some terrible attempts at sledging!!!!) getting 5 Grammar School wickets and bowling 16 overs for them to reach the target! Jack Kirk had a brilliant display with the ball taking 2 wickets for just 1 run, Joe Stobbs, Ollie Fryer and Josh Mckittrick the others to pick up wickets!
Although a defeat it was a spirited performance!!!
