Yesterday Nidderdale High School ran their first House Swimming Gala. This saw all of year 7 & 8 being involved in the competitions, if students were not swimming in an event then they had another role as either a Manager, Coach, Official, Reporter or Photographer for their House team and even had an announcer on the microphone. This meant that students took over and lead the event themselves which went swimmingly! Well done to all those that helped run a fantastic event.
The winning lanes were dominated by Whernside who took 9 wins over the freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, putting them in overall 1st place. Pen-y-Ghent followed in 2nd place with 4 wins and closely followed by Ingleborough. We had some star performers of the gala including Megan and Jo in year 8 and Connie and Reuben in year 7. We also had students that stepped up for their House, a special mention goes to Ellie and Jack in Year 7 for their commitment and effort.
The gala finished in style with some fun relays and lots of celebrating. This was another fantastic event that has made us all proud of the students at the school who are hardworking and determined individuals.
Today we played Borough Bridge for the first time. Both Year 7 & 8 games started off as an even match but things soon changed. Year 7 beat Borough bridge 6-3 for a well deserved victory in the second half. Year 8 continued to work hard but lost out in the last half. The girls coped well as we changed around positions, for some a new position all together. A great game played by all but a special mention goes to Megan for scoring 2 goals, Anna and Frances for their fabulous center pass tactics, Evelyn for her consistent talent and Molly for trying a new position as GK. We are looking forward to playing Borough Bridge again in February. Predictions please?
Well Done to all the House Captains and Sport Ambassadors who lead a successful multi skills festival for 7 Primary Schools. Despite a very wet day the event was enjoyed by all. Thank you for your help. Many more opportunities coming up soon. Miss Pugh 🙂
Well done to the year 7 girls who won their first match of the season against Upper Wharfedale School. 10-5. Hopefully more successful stories to come.
Rose won a t shirt signed by top athletes making lots of us very jealous 🙂
